TOTALLY HUMANISTIC BELIEVES THAT WE NEED TO ENGAGE  THE HUMAN BEING IN THEIR TOTALITY

Totally Humanistic

"Constantly operating from a place of comfort can lead to no growth, yet paradoxically uncomfortability often leads to growth!"

Hello, I'm Jennifer Jordan

MA, BA (Hons), Dip Supervision and Dip Groupwork.

Gestalt Psychotherapist

  • I am an Accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Specialist Group Facilitator (Registered with both BACP and UKCP).  I am the co-author of the book: "The Resonance Factor: Challenging the myth of addiction".

My ethos is that everyone has the right to achieve their full potential. This is achieved through cultivating awareness, acceptance and responsibility there by supporting the individual to live a more fulfilled and exhilarating life.

Some History:  I began my work in the caring sector some 30 years ago. Initially specialising in working with children and families, which I found to be very rewarding. Later I desired a change. I enrolled in a leading drama school where I studied performing arts and  obtained an Hons Degree . This was a challenging environment which like my work in the caring sector forced me to overcome many innate anxieties.  This degree as well as my many years of working with people encouraged me to formally study as a Gestalt Counsellor.  The choice of Gestalt as my therapeutic area of study, was its authenticity and its creativity.  It felt to me to be a therapeutic process that relished the idea of you, the client, working through the issues you present with a view to achieve the outcome/s you desire.

I am passionate about supporting individuals in navigating their own issues.  Please note, this does not solely apply to the client but also to practitioners requiring supervision with regards to their work and how to best understand what they do and why they do it when engaging their clients.,  Hence, as a clinical supervisor, I take pride in supporting and mentoring other therapists, ensuring that they continually provide the highest quality of care to their own clients.

The question I ask myself and you: Are you ready to embark on a transformative journey towards healing and personal growth?

I am very much interested in clients who realise they have an issue and who are up for the challenge of searching for the solutions that they ultimately hold within themselves.  My role and function is to support your awareness that you yourself hold the answers to the challenges within your life!

Counselling Services

"With the power of dialogue you never ever realise where it can take you,  as initially it appears as - 'Just a conversation!'  Yet it is a conversation with the power to transform you."

Trauma

As a counselor, it is crucial to address the topic of trauma with utmost sensitivity and care. Trauma can have a profound and lasting impact on one's overall well-being, and it is essential to create a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and heal from their traumatic experiences.

Depression

First and foremost I establish a trusting and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship with my clients. This foundation of trust allows them to feel safe and comfortable sharing their thoughts, emotions, and experiences related to their depression. I listen attentively and empathetically, validating their feelings and creating a supportive space for them to express themselves openly.

During our sessions, I help clients gain insight into their depression by exploring the underlying causes and triggers.

Esteem And Assertiveness

As a Psychotherapist, when working with clients who are struggling with self-esteem and assertiveness, there are several important aspects that I focus on to support their growth and development. Self-esteem refers to an individual's overall sense of self-worth and belief in their own abilities, while assertiveness relates to their ability to express their thoughts, needs, and boundaries in a confident and respectful manner.

I help clients identify and challenge negative self-talk and irrational beliefs that contribute to their low self-esteem. Through cognitive-behavioral techniques, we work on reframing these thoughts and cultivating more positive and realistic self-perceptions. I encourage clients to focus on their strengths, achievements, and unique qualities to build a more balanced and positive self-image.

Stress Management At Work

Stress management therapy is the use of techniques, strategies, or programs specifically to reduce stress levels, prevent stress, or cope with situations or events that could lead to increased stress levels.

Stress is a feeling of overwhelm or doubt related to situations or things that happen to us.  It can be physical, mental, or emotional. For example, stress can feel like an upset stomach, lots of thoughts racing through the mind, or self-doubt. Many stressful events or situations involve changes or adjustments, such as moving to a new place or starting a new job.

Client 2
I have been working with Jennifer since 2018 and have found our sessions to be pivotal in my life. I came to her sad, depressed and unsure about who I was and uncertain if I would ever find myself again.
I am happy to say that after sharing space under her guidance I feel secure, grounded, safe and have seen a huge amount of growth within me as a person.
I am now aware of my triggers, how best to deal with them and how to take care of myself from the inside out. I have learnt so much about who I am and that has lead me to have an overflow of peace which I am now able to share with those around me.
I understand that I am a work in progress but the work that has been done over the past few years have lead me to receive things in my life that I will forever be grateful for.
Jennifer is nurturing, understanding and wise and I look forward to working with her for years to come.
